The Sigulda municipality reported on 9 June 2026 that the 8th memorial chess tournament of the teacher and TV presenter Uldis Deisons was held on Sunday, 7 June 2026, in the Siguldas pagasta Kultūras nams: 26 players from Sigulda, Cēsis, Tukums, Rūjiena, Valmiera, Limbaži, Ādaži and other places, among them young players of Siguldas Valsts ģimnāzija, played seven rounds; the Siguldas šaha klubs organised it with the gymnasium. The tournament server prints the hall’s street, Zinātnes iela 7b, for the schoolchildren rapid tournaments held there.
