Federations, leagues and groups 4

Part of Riga’s chess life is organised by bodies that are neither clubs nor schools. The Riga Chess Federation co-organises most of the rated events in the city, from the Thursday series to the Riga Chess Open, and runs a classification series of its own. Šahs visiem is a community league that invites anyone with a FIDE ID to numbered game days on Aspazijas bulvāris, with a sign-up form and an entry fee per game day.

The Dice Chess Federation organises tournaments of Dice Chess, a variant of chess played with dice, including Latvian championships; they have been held at the Ķīpsala exhibition centre and at Rīgas 89. vidusskola, among other places. The Erasmus Student Network section in Riga describes a chess club that meets every other week and welcomes players of every level. Each card shows what its pages say about joining.
